Alcott PTSA Welcomes You!

What is a PTSA?
PTSA stands for Parent Student Teacher Association. We are a non-profit organization established to support students, families, teachers and staff at Alcott Elementary. We are a 100% volunteer organization coordinated by a Board of Directors.

What does the Board of Directors do?
The Board of Directors is responsible for all the legal, fundraising, budgetary, and community event planning for the PTSA. The board works in cooperation with general membership to determine programs and activities that benefit every student at Alcott. Examples include academic enrichment such as Nature Vision, community events such as International Cultural Night and so much more.

What does it mean to be a member?
Membership is different from fundraising. Your membership allows you to vote for board members, be part of larger legislative and advocacy organization, and have a direct say in where PTSA fundraising money goes to support the children at Alcott. Your membership fees support Alcott PTSAs operational costs as well as those of our regional, state, and national organizations.

Membership does not obligate you to volunteering or fundraising, but it is a great way to get to know people at the school and have a voice in your child’s education.

Why should I get involved?
We can’t do it alone. The Board of Directors is a small subset of the parents and teachers at Alcott. We need members to give input on where fundraising dollars go for the school, what events we should have, and other important business.

We need volunteers for events and we especially need board members to help set the direction for the whole school.

No experience is necessary to be a board member; training is provided. All board member positions can also be shared. The more people we have committed to helping the less work there is for everyone.

Why Join?
The number one reason to join the PTSA is to benefit your child. However, there are so many more benefits to PTSA membership. Find out more about Alcott PTSA or join/renew your membership.
